Torrijas, a perfect Easter treat

At Las Tapas de Lola we love to celebrate Easter with torrijas, perfect treat to use up what's in the cupboard / fridge!

Ingredients

Method

  1. Slice the bread into 1.5 / 2cm slices.
  2. Add the milk; lemon & orange peel; cinnamon stick; & 2 tablespoons of sugar to a pot, bring to boil then set aside to cool.
  3. Have the beaten eggs in a bowl ready to dunk
  4. Have the powdered cinnamon & sugar in a bowl ready to coat.
  5. Heat the pan with olive oil to a medium / high heat.
  6. Dunk the bread in the milk; then pass through the egg; then fry.
  7. Fry both sides until toasted.
  8. Remove from pan onto a plate with kitchen paper to soak excess oil.
  9. Toss / coat in the cinnamon/sugar mix & serve.
